The Jordan Valley Authority and the Jordanian Water users’ associations group

Study tour | CIHEAM Bari, Italy | 21-25 November 2016. 

Within the German-Jordanian Programme "Management of Water Resources" 2016—2018, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in cooperation with the water sector public institutions in Jordan and aiming at strengthening the capacities of the three public water institutions with regard to the growing pressure on the scarce water resources, the CIHEAM Bari has been granted the responsibility to organize and implement a study tour for Jordanian WUAs in Italy.

This study tour focuses on delivering to the Jordanian WUAs adequate insights into the experience of the Italian Participatory Irrigation Management, starting with the transfer process to the actual management performed by the WUAs and the best practices which lead to a successful Italian experience.

The tour shall initiate with a historical background of the establishment of WUAs within the framework of the participatory irrigation management.
