Tunisia in “Water Poverty”
“Setting the problem of rainfall and polluted waters aside, according to international standards for water supply, the country currently gets by on less than half the recommended limit, placing Tunisia firmly into water poverty… The water supply should be 1000 m3 per inhabitant, Tunisia’s supply is only 430 m3."

According to Garbouj, despite the international loans that have been extended to Tunisia to find a solution to the crisis, the severity of the situation is only increasing. On Monday, protests erupted in Siliana governorate over the closure of the region’s water networks, a problem that persists without solution.
