Dulail local initiative, a participatory video
Dulail local initiative for Dry Land Restoration in Jordan
Securing Rights and Restoring Lands for Improved Livelihoods
This project aims to address desertification and alleviate poverty through a holistic approach based on the wider landscape and the needs of the people.
The project has also increased the capacity of the local community by creating awareness kits, using a participatory video method targeting women
This video was produced and edited by the local community in the Dulail Villages; the local dryland committee was trained on one of the most important tools for advocacy: the participatory video.
A participatory video is a new innovative way of capturing and sharing community voices on social and environmental change.
Whereas the project approach focuses in part on capacity building, knowledge sharing and community participation, participatory video helps to better understand community needs and identify gaps in range land resource planning. The community can therefore document their environmental challenges, needs and ideas for solutions on the ground.
