EFITA is the European conference dedicated to the future use of ICT in the agri-food sector, bioresource and biomass sector. It was launched and is supported by the European Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture, Food and the Environment (EFITA). EFITA happens every two year, and EFITA 2017 is the 11th edition. 200 participants are expected in Montpellier, France, from around 30 countries.

Call for candidates to “Expert of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency division”

The selected candidate will work as a part of the energy department at the General Secretariat of the Arab League (LAS). The energy department works to support and promote the development of the energy sector in the Arab region and increase Arab integration in the energy field in general, electrical and renewable energy and energy efficiency in particular.

This includes organizing, attending and participating in workshops and conferences aimed at disseminating knowledge and discussing key issues in the energy field.

In addition, the position helps applicants in develop their analytical skills and building knowledge in the energy sector, as well as the identification of key players regionally and internationally. It also assist them in developing contacts and building strong relationships with decision-makers and various organizations and institutions.

Request for Expressions of Interest for the Regional Implementation Team

OPENING DATE: 9 February 2017

CLOSING DATE: 23 February 2017​

CEPF requests that organizations interested in serving as the Regional Implementation Team (RIT) for the Mediterranean Basin biodiversity hotspot submit an expression of interest per the announcement posted here. Please also review the posted RIT terms of reference, which give a full explanation of CEPF's expectations.

The Request for Proposals should be released to eligible parties in early March 2017, with an expected due date for full proposals of approximately 30 March 2017. There will likely be subsequent clarifications and formal approval of the RIT by the CEPF Donor Council prior to award, leading to a formal contract by June 2017, with the RIT starting in July 2017.

Do you want to launch a Grassroots Initiative on Social-Eco-innovation? If so, join the SwitchMed workshop on “Social Eco-innovation” in Jordan!

The workshop, to be held from 25 to 28 March 2017, is part of the SwitchMed Civil Society training programme. The objective of the programme is to support social and ecological innovations by Civil Society Organisations (CSO) in the Mediterranean region.

ARAID has launched an international call for applications to fill up to a maximum of 8 research positions in different research areas. The call for applications is open to candidates of any nationality that fit the requirements of academic and research background.

The call aims to recruit outstanding candidates with excellent research record and leadership capabilities. The final number of researchers to be hired depend on the quality of the proposals and budget availability.

Towards the first call for proposals: publication of the draft guidelines for applicants

Do you have a project idea involving different countries and organizations of the Mediterranean area?
Have you identified a common problem that can be best addressed through cross-border cooperation? If so, you might be interested in reading the draft guidelines for applicants of the first call for proposals under the ENI CBC Med Programme.

The guidelines describe the main features of the first call for standard projects, including the following information:

  • priorities and budget of the call;
  • eligibility criteria;
  • application and evaluation procedure.

These guidelines, together with the application pack of the call, will be discussed by the representatives of the participating countries during the meeting of the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) to take place on 13 and 14 of December 2016 in Athens.

CIHEAM-IAMM announces a vacancy for the position of Scientific Administrator specialised in Economics / Agribusiness Management.

The profile of the candidate must focus on the value chain analysis, analysis of the functioning of markets and supply chains, modes of organization, governance and stakeholder strategies. The job profile falls within the scope of food security issues and the sustainability of food systems.

Call for consultants within RE-ACTIVATE Project: Implement the certification of sustainable energy trainings in Morocco and Tunisia based on international standards and design of a regional quality scheme “Credentialing Program”

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) commissioned GIZ to implement the project “Promoting Development and Employment through Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RE/EE) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) (RE-ACTIVATE)”.

[...] The Credentialing initiative goal is to ensure the efficiency and reliability of capacity development programs (CD) in the MENA Countries and to raise performance, coherence and quality of skills training provision. In these regards, the present assignment aims to design a regional credentialing program based on quality and competency norms, standards and certification programs for clean energy educators, trainees, training centers and programs, and assist MENA countries to build a quality-trained sustainable energy workforce adapted to their local context. The mission also includes the support and assistance of Morocco and Tunisia to develop and introduce certification processes for training offers.
