Training female plumbers in Jordan
Jordan is one of the world’s most arid countries. Due to the civil war in neighbouring Syria, Jordan has taken in very large numbers of refugees in recent years, most of whom are living in cities and local communities. This has intensified the pressure on already limited water resources.
In order to conserve this scarce resource while offering people in the region better prospects for the future, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH has been training Jordanian and Syrian women as plumbers since 2014.
"Raising awareness is particularly important to me in my job. I always inform my customers about any damage and how they can avoid it in future."
