The Telaithrion Project
"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” ―Socrates
"Deciding to be the change they wanted to see in Greece, Web designer Apostolos Sianos and his friends headed to Mount Telethrion, Evia back in 2008 to set up the first self-sufficient eco-community.
A year later they founded ‘Free and Real’, a non-profit, non governmental organisation. Its mission is to create a prototype eco-community which will serve as a school for sustainability that can be replicated throughout the world. The group aims to build a cluster of geodesic domes, which will function as a communal space hosting a diverse array of facilities ranging from a research & science centre, to an arts and music hall and a conference space."

"Free and Real" organization and its project to create a prototype eco-community are interesting not only for their innovative approach to sustainabilty but also for their capacity to attract the participation of the broader public to accomplish their mission. Indeed, they launched two crowdfounding campaigns on Indiegogo (1 and 2) which were both successful!
