Economic growth is generally determined by the agricultural sector. This sector is, in turn, highly dependent on the weather. It is based on this relationship that the sector have contributed to the economic situation in 2016 and the sector's prospects for 2017.
Despite an average cereal production, the agricultural sector will contribute to an added value of up to 7.2 % for 2017 against a decline of 9.7% in 2016. This slowdown is expected to continue with the low productivity of rainfed areas. These agricultural areas have the highest concentration of small and medium family farms. However, intensification of the programs within the scope of the Morocco Green Plan strategy, arboriculture products, market gardening and livestock are the main factors that will lead to the creation of value added and employment.
