Digital Round Table: Civil Society's Perspective on Food Security
17 September 2014, 4.00 PM
“MEDSPRING” (Mediterranean Science, Policy, Research and Innovation Gateway) organises a Digital Round Table on Civil Society's Perspectives on Food Security on 17 September, 4.00 PM. With a view on establishing a more structured dialogue with civil society, on the one hand, and on substantiating the work of EMEG –– Euro-Mediterranean Expert Group, which acts as a “think tank” of experts ––the Digital Round Table will focus on the theme food security. This societal challenge is one of most debated among civil society's actors (as monitored through AgoraMedSping's social channels) and it has also received greater attention in the H2020 framework.
The digital workshop will bring together representatives of civil society's organizations who will contribute, through their discussion, to a position paper expressing the view of civil society on food security, with specific focus on food-related policies to be circulated for discussion at the next EMEG meeting. Representatives in the meeting will be asked to present and share their positions on the issue of food security and their evaluation of food-related policies in order contribute to a better understanding and application of this concept in areas such as research and cooperation.
The digital round table will be broadcasted live and it will be available as a video after the video-call. The video-call will thus be publicly available to all the interested stakeholders. Those watching the video but not directly participating in the video-call can interact with the participants in the call through our site's comments where they can post comments, questions, and raise issues to be discussed. By making the video-call publicly available we aim at collecting comments and suggestion on the issues raised during the Round Table and afterwards. After the video meeting, you will find a summary of the discussion and this paper will be open to comments and suggestion. The final version of this documents including the participants' point of view and the comments collected afterwards will be circulated among the EMEG members.
We invite you to watch the round table live or to access the public available video after the video. We then invite you to share your comments with us through the comment tool at the bottom of this page. You can also send your views by interacting with us via our Twitter or Facebook accounts.
