Lebanon's viticulture sector finds new opportunities

Lebanon, among few other countries such as Georgia and Armenia has a millenary viniculture tradition. This is also due to the Phoenicians who introduced viticulture in Europe and the rest of the Mediterranean.

If Lebanon is now facing a hot geopolitical context and a tense internal situation, the culture of wine is expanding, and many investors covet the Lebanese vineyards.

Viticulture persisted in Lebanon, even after the Ottoman conquest in the 16th century, through the Lebanese Christians who were allowed to continue a limited production.

It is only in the mid-19th century that Lebanese vineyards regained their status, thanks to a small group of Jesuits who founded the Château Ksara area that still exists today.
