Maghreb: combating desertification and drought

Recharge of wadi aquifers to combat desertification and drought.

WADIS-MAR action concerns the realization of an integrated water harvesting and aquifer recharge techniques in two watersheds in Maghreb Region, Oued Biskra in Algeria and Oum Zessar in Tunisia, characterized by water scarcity, overexploitation of groundwater resources and high vulnerability to climate change risk.

Here are the results of the study carried out by Desertification Research Centre | University of Cagliari with Spain, Algeria e Tunisia and the suggestions by academics and international experts collected at the final conference.
